TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have taught Special Education for 17 years - everything from self contained to co-teaching in inclusive environments. I love it!

MY TEACHING STYLE

I co-teach in fourth and fifth grades. My style is to encourage those who think they can't, to believe that they indeed CAN. I go with the flow in other teachers' classrooms, following their policies and procedures to the point that they are my own, and students see me as another teacher they have, not just someone who comes into their room for a part of their day. I do owe this, however, to the awesome co-teaching partners I have!

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I recently renewed my National Board Certification under Exceptional Children, ages 0-21.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I have a Master's Degree in Special Education from Rowan University in Glassboro, New Jersey.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I was born in Pittsburgh, moved to New Jersey in third grade and attended Glassboro State College for undergraduate studies in communications. I worked in PR/Marketing for 5 years prior to going back for my master's degree in Special Education. I was married in 1999, and our daughter was born in 2003. I've been teaching for 17 years and can't see myself doing anything else that gives me the satisfaction that teaching does... or the time off to be with my daughter in the summer!
