Literacy Love and More

I am entering my fifth years as a teacher and have taught grades 5 - 8 in the subjects of Language Arts, Social Studies, Yearbook and Publications. I am proud of the fact that my students consistently have high reading scores due to the fact that I develop a love of regular reading in their lives from the first day of school. I also am proud of the work we do as a class related to writing growth and personal commitment to writing and my students frequently submit their work for publication in forums outside the classroom.

My role as a teacher is to serve as a guide and a mentor for my students. My approaches are always to model first, to guide second and to step away to support third. My goal and heart is that my students develop a love of reading and writing as an everyday part of their lives rather than viewing them just as assignments. My goals through TPT is to provide you with some of the high-interest materials I have created myself for my students and that we use in our classrooms; from novel studies to writing assignments to creative writing prompts, etc.

I received my Bachelor's in Marketing and Communication in 2007, and my Master's in Teaching in 2009. I am highly qualified in elementary - middle school Language Arts, Literature and Social Studies.

My husband is also a middle school Language Arts teacher so many of the materials have been co-created by us that we use for successful lessons in our own classrooms.
