TEACHING EXPERIENCE

7+ years teaching full time in urban school systems (both public and charter), grades 6-10. I have also taught adult ESL overseas for a year, and have worked with kids as a volunteer tutoring/teacher (grades K - 12) both domestically and overseas since high school. I have also worked for educational non-profits to develop multicultural curriculum for grades 6-12 (not for sale on TPT).

MY TEACHING STYLE

I love literature circles, reciprocal teaching, and novel studies where students can take control of their learning. In each big unit (thematically planned) I include fiction, non-fiction, and poetry. Because so many of my students never have an opportunity to venture outside of their neighborhood, I like the idea of bringing the world to them, and incorporate a lot of current events and world history into our units.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

*Cum Laude honors in Education *Over the years, I have also coached many students to win District and State-wide writing competitions

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

BA in Education, minored in English Literature.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I've traveled to 35+ nations and like to bring my knowledge and passion for other cultures into the classroom as well.
