TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have over twenty years of experience teaching elementary school. I have taught first grade, second grade, third grade and sixth grade as a classroom teacher. I am currently a reading specialist in a K-5 building, and I work with students who need extra support.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I gather as much information about each child's strengths, areas of need, and interests in order to inform my instruction. I strive to make sure that every child knows that I care about him as a person and as a learner.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I am a National Board Certified Teacher. My certification area is Early/Middle Childhood English Language Arts. I have been selected as the Master Teacher for my building three times.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I have certifications in the areas of Elementary Education, English to Speakers of Other Languages, Music Education, Reading Specialist, and Special Education with master's degrees in reading and special education. I am trained in Orton-Gillingham.
