TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Saying that I am a first year teaching would be too simplistic, so here is the full story: I completed my student teaching experience at Lakewood High School, and in the fall of 2022, I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Metropolitan State University. I taught 9th and 11th grade English at Platte Canyon High School in the spring of 2023. At Platte Canyon I took on many students with 504 and IEPs as well as a students who had no English proficiency due to just migrating. Currently, I work at Rangeview High School teaching 9th and 11th grade English. Rangeview serves a population of low income families. I have also taken on teaching the English Language Development class where I teach students who fall under the category of 2LEP, 3 LEP and 4LEP.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I am a teacher who dedicates a lot of my time to honing in on my creativity and making engaging lessons. I love simulations, quick write questions, and having extremely hard, awkward, important conversations. I strive to make learning fun, challenging, and introspective for all students. I have been told that I am someone who has a "contagious positive energy". I like to think I pass that energy into my students as they learn to love learning.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Metropolitan State University of Denver. I feel honored to be on Teachers Pay Teachers :)

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

When I was in college, I had to find a website that can be used as a tool for teachers. For the assignment I wrote a paper about Teachers Pay Teachers which led to me getting reamed by my professor. "Why would you use that when you are paying for your own education in order to learn the skills to make that". I was extremely embarrassed, and the reaction cast a shadow on Teachers Pay Teachers for me. Now, as a first year teacher, I know how busy and stressful this job really is (it's like college forget to mention that part). Teachers Pay Teachers is really a life saving tool for teachers who would like to spend their time fulfilling the other parts of their identity. If that means someone is able to play with their kids one more hour and then buy something on TPT, that is what life is all about.
