I have been teaching English Language Learners since 2001. I have taught in all grades kinder to eleventh. Most of my experience has been in bilingual English/Spanish programs. I teach students who speak many languages besides English such as Spanish, Hmong, Somali, Tagalog and more.
Since I must show up to work every day, I try to make it as fun and practical as I can. Why make school boring when you can do something about it? I love games, interaction amongst students, building community, silly times and good stories.
Awarded Dr. Joseph Kavetsky Award by the Professors of English of the College of Education of the University of Puerto Rico. Magna Cum Laude
I went to school in private and public schools in Puerto Rico. After high school, I completed my degree in Teaching English to Spanish Speakers from the University of Puerto Rico. Upon graduation, I was hired to teach in an urban school district in the United States where I’ve been ever since. During the course of my career I have taught many grades, taken many courses, met lots of amazing educators and students and completed a masters degree. I am always learning and staying up to date with what is new in education and language acquisition research.
I was born and raised in the beautiful island of Puerto Rico. Spanish is my first language, I have been teaching in the U.S. mainland since 2001. I love teaching and getting creative. I’m one crafty lady! I am raising my own child to be bilingual as I believe it is one of the best gifts I can give him.
