TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have over nine years of full-time teaching and special programs' coordinating experience. These nine years followed several years of substitute teaching; I am the atypical person who actually LOVES to substitute teach! Due to personal and family health reasons, I currently substitute ("guest") teach in two fairly large school districts in northwest Arkansas. I freelance tutor and "ghost" write on a contract basis as well. Most recently I am back in central/western Kentucky, guest teaching again. I love the variety and the lesser pressures as I have passed life's "midway" mark. My teaching locales were Texas, Kentucky and Arkansas. My myriad experience includes banking, aviation, modeling, secretarial science, writing, and agriculture. I have also worked with foreign exchange students and volunteered with benevolent organizations.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My teaching style is usually very kinesthetic and visual, although I use tactics to reach all the various learning styles. Creativity and humor in instruction are my credos. Puns are my caveat because they often make me but I have to make sure they don't break me.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Student-nominated two consecutive years for Who's Who Among America's Teachers, Who's Who Among America's College Students, Pi Sigma Alpha Honorary Political Science Fraternity in College, Dean's List and President's Honor Roll in College, Nominated for Walt Disney World's Creative Teacher Competition. However, my own personal shining moment came when I was informed that parents were upset that I had resigned my previous position, and subsequently voiced their opinions at the local School Board Meeting.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Original B.A. was in Pre-Law (Political Science and Speech); obtained my teaching certification in Waco, Texas, and later obtained a Kentucky teaching certification as well.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

My background is extensive in various areas, largely due to my hyperactive nature. I have passed my written private pilot's license exams and have logged numerous flight hours; I have won ribbons in collegiate horse shows; I am conversationally fluent in Spanish. , which has diminished with age. I am the parent of two now-grown children, Simon and Natalie. Natalie is a linguist in the USAF. Simon suffers from some levels of mental disorders so I am a crusader for those causes. I have a penchant for poultry and have owned poultry almost all of my life.
