Description

American Sign Language (ASL) is not always perceived as a LANGUAGE of its own, or as a second language, but it is.
Deaf or hard of hearing persons must face specific challenges due to their physiological deficit; however, they overcome and build strengths in other areas. This lesson plan not only teaches some very basic concepts, such as the ASL alphabet, but it also enlightens students about the cultural aspects of Sign Language as a second language.
