TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I'm a passionate career education teacher with over 10 years of experience working with students one-on-one in high schools and now designing Career Education programs for students in Grades K-8. I serve over 12,000 students in my school district. My teacher lesson plans and student workbooks are informed by the most up-to-date career education research, as well as follows the BC Ministry of Education curriculum, K-8.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I want to inspire teachers to become Career Influencers and for students to try new things, be brave and connect with others. The lessons and activities that I design are interactive and encourage links between classroom learning and the jobs that people do in the work world. We know that connecting student's learning to the outside world increases their motivation and engagement level at school. Exposing students to a broad range of career education opportunities levels the playing field when trying to overcome socio-economic challenges that so many families face. Often the students who would benefit the most from being exposed to people who do a broad range of careers are the least likely to receive it.
