I am a 7th grade Reading teacher that is certified through ALTA. I am new, but I love building lesson plans and connecting concepts across content. I have bachelors in Cultural Anthropology as well, and am going to be working towards a minor in Spanish as I try to gain fluency in a second language.
I am incredibly passionate about multiculturalism in the classroom. I also feel that the doorway to a love of reading is to tap into the interests students already have and build off that. I feel literacy is the single most important subject we can teach when it comes to academic success and success outside of the classroom. I strive to focus my lesson plans not just on the books we are reading but how these books connect to the real world and real world experiences.

I am a huge nerd and because of that I try to incorporate pop culture as much as I can in my teaching. I run Dungeons and Dragons campaigns and would love to find a way to incorporate that into a Reading classroom, though I haven't really come up with a plan for that yet. I am very passionate about including diverse people in our curriculum, not just people of different ethnic groups but also religions, sexualities, gender identities, and people with disabilities.
