I was a Special Education Teacher for 7 years at a residential School for the Blind. I specialized in - adaptations of lesson plans for special needs students; adaptation of high school content areas for functional academics; creation of a functional academic curriculum for my school. I am now a stay at home mom to four beautiful daughters, homeschool a 1st grader and kindergartner (and two preschoolers), participate in a Classical Homeschool Co-op, and run a piano studio. My piano and voice studio serves 30 students, ranging in age from 4 to 64. I have been teaching music lessons for over 10 years now.
Special Ed - I taught high school aged students who ranged from pre-K to 8th grade cognitive levels. I often used multi-modal, multi-intelligence, and multi-sensory object lessons. I broke down a lot of basic concepts (in content and life skills areas) into concrete steps/lesson plans/task anaylsis. I used a lot of focused repetition for skill attainment. My materials will be useful for - special educators looking to teach high school age students at a functional level (usually elementary level) - special educators who would like to see task analysis of skills and concepts (often aids in future lesson planning) - students who need high levels of repetition to learn a concept (i.e. lots of worksheets focused on 1 specific skill) - elementary teachers who desire creative, multi-sensory approaches to basic concepts Homeschool - I love incorporating many concepts and skills for my preschool age children. Organization is important to me and so I enjoy compiling my scope and sequence and all my materials in order to be replicated for future use and by other teachers. I love to use monthly themes in preschool and incorporating as many skills (math, reading, science, and social studies) into the theme as possible. I have a heart to support other teachers and parents. If my materials and resources can help out and fill a need of another teacher, then I am truly happy!
