Description
Designed for elementary and middle school students, families will learn 22 composers by listening to their music, eating food from their country of origin, read books related to their life, and study science, artwork, literature, local history, American history, and world history that occurred in the composer’s lifetime.
Package includes Teacher Manual, Student Workbook, Time & Place Cards, and Book of Centuries.
Teacher Manual Includes
Music Lessons:
- listen to the composer's music
- learn basic details about the composer's life
- eat food from the composer's country of music
- listen or read a living book related to the composer
- put the composer in context of time and place through a Science, Literature, Art, Local History, American History, and World History that occurred during the composer's lifetime.
- learn about another culture in the world through playing a folk game from that country
Connect a scientific discovery, piece of art, published literature, and local/American/world history event to the composer’s lifetime each week. Lessons include topic summaries, read alouds from living books, video links, activities, and worksheets for elementary and middle school students.
Time & Place Cards and Student Workbooks are Recommended to use with this resource.

The Student Workbook to accompany the Feast of Ideas Teachers Manual. There are 3 sections
- Music: doodle page or listening map, timeline/map/related subjects, time & place map
- Literature: copywork quotes by each composer and each author for students to trace, copy in print, or copy in cursive.
- History: braille decoding worksheet and coloring worksheet
Each student should have their own workbook.
Families can purchase one workbook and make copies for children within their household. Otherwise, each family should purchase their own workbook.
Time & Place Cards include:
Teacher Image Cards to accompany the Feast of Ideas Teacher Manual.
Each week contains the image used during the time & place section of the music lesson along with a simple descriptive sentence including the date of the event.
