Social Studies Short Answer Writing Rubric
This rubric is a check list that guides student through the social studies writing process from claim, evidence from source, support from knowledge, explaining, and connections for the closing. The rubric includes sentence starters to guide student thinking. It is color coded. When I model, I color code each sentence by writing with the same color pen as the rubric. In addition, when students finish their written response, they go back and highlight the parts of the writing in the same color

Basic Animal Report Writing Guide and Notetaking Sheet
This is a simple to use, print-friendly, basic guide to writing an animal report. This product includes a one-page guide or outline for writing a basic animal report. The outline provides questions to answer in each of these areas: description, diet, habitat, behavior, lifecycle and interesting facts. In addtion there is a two page (front and back) notetaking sheet for student research. This product can be edited allowing you to modify your research areas and questions.

This template is fill-in-the-blank. Students are able to see what is expected of them and it gives them a template in which to document what they learned from their research.
