I Want a Refund: Introduction to Legal Synthesis
Two separate lawsuits were filed in April of 2020 that have a lot in common. But StubHub and United Airlines were sued by customers that want cash refunds after their tickets couldn't be used on a certain date. What should happen?Students determine arguments from both sides for both lawsuits and synthesize the information. Students analyze why customers might be afraid to accept vouchers, consider what companies could do to improve customer confidence, and create a policy they would implement

Helping students hit the sweet spot when elaborating their written ideas can be difficult. This lesson is one that has helped my students immensely. It is an acronym that guides them when they are considering what to add to their paragraphs so that they produce creative and insightful compositions.
