Food Safety From Farm to Fork
This unit provides fifth through seventh graders a better understanding of food safety through real-life examples and enjoyable activities. They learn that everyone has a responsibility in minimizing foodborne illnesses - farmers, transporters, restaurants, grocery stores... and the consumer! Through reading, games, puzzles, math problems and science investigations, participants identify the roles each one of us plays to ensure the food we enjoy is safe to eat.Supplemental Content:Spanish excerp

Decision Making using YRBS Data
This is a three day "unit" that focuses on how our values, beliefs and attitudes impact our behavior. It works as a great introduction into decision-making and risk-taking behaviors. Day one the students address the difference between norms and perceived norms. On day two, the national YRBS data is presented and compared to the "class norms." Next, the students compare national data to their state data. Each lesson ends with an exit ticket that addresses norms, or decision making.

Lyme disease is the fastest growing disease in the United States with more than 300,000 people being diagnosed annually. If treated quickly after a tick bite, Lyme is easy to treat. But, the longer a person waits for treatment, the more difficult it is to treat and can even become chronic.
