This is a must have for new teachers. My second year of teaching, I made a script of what I would say and do the first week of school. This greatly helped with my nerves and remembering everything I needed to cover in the first week. This activity makes students perform close reading skills by following directions. This activity takes 5 minutes. Hand out the worksheet face down. Tell them they have five minutes to complete the test. The purpose of this test is to leave a lasting impact on students as to why they need to read all directions first.
