Thoughtfulness speech - National Honor Society
I presented this speech as a guest speaker at a National Honor Society induction. This speech deals with the topic of thoughtfulness, both in being an intentional thinker as well as considerate. This speech can be used in a classroom to inspire students and as character education. This speech can also be utilized by leaders trying to unify a team or group, by simply replacing a few words to address the appropriate crowd. Kindergarten Writers Workshop Curriculum Calendar
This is a sample curriculum calendar for a K-1 writers workshop block. It includes time frames, unit of study titles, and teaching points for each unit. Please note, I taught this curriculum in kindergarten. Therefore, it was originally labeled as "kindergarten." However, it is suitable for both kinder and first grades. (The only change for first grade that I would suggest is to use different topics for the conventions studies to fit your students' needs.)

RACE writing ~ How to Construct a Response to Short Answer Questions
COMMON CORE requires students to construct complete answers to questions. To this end, many teachers are instructing the RACE method of answering state assessment prompts to help students come up with reasoned and complete answers. Our district requires that this method be explicitly taught to all students for written and oral responses throughout the year.
