This poster and practice helps students write summaries of events. We use it in Social Studies. The "5w"s ask for who, what, where, when, why of an event. The "bar" in this stands for "Background, Actions, Results" to help students write about a sequence and cause and effect. This also helps students identify and explain the context of an event.Students have completed writing 5wbar summary paragraphs in about 5 sentences. Sometimes, we organize their information into tables.
