Sometimes we have students with "frequent breaks" written into their IEPs. I have found that giving the students a visual clue for their breaks and helping them manage their breaks, i.e. how long and how many, helps them to accomplish their daily classroom goals. Every year, students on my caseload share their self-advocacy brochure with teachers and staff. It helps them with communicating information about their hearing loss and accommodations. The headings on the brochure can be edited so it is specific to your student, along with the information on each page. I included my student's brochure as an example. Kids of all ages love printing out a copy for each of their teachers, writing their name on it and handing it off in the beginning of the year.
