Simple picture words

I am a TA for an autistic, non-verbal child with limited fine motor skills.

She can't or won't use sign language. I developed this program of picture words for communication. I cut the individual pictures into cards and laminated them. The student will point to or pick up the appropriate card so that her wants and needs are known. The pictures are simple and bright, as she is also visually impaired. She picked up the idea right away since the symbols make sense. I believe that this form of communication can change her life. I have also included categories so that her caretakers can separate the cards and attach the individual cards with Velcro to a backing paper.
