A graphic organizer I used with a student with who was having difficulties writing non-fiction summaries. Each week, I would allow her to choose news articles she was interested in, and have her fill out one of these worksheets for each article.
This graphic organizer was helpful in having her recognize what information to retain while reading and effectively guided her into writing summaries.
