This activity was designed to address ELA Common Core Learning Standards in a 7th Grade Social Studies lesson about the Abolitionists. Primary source material from Garrison, Douglass, Still and Tubman are featured in this lesson. Students must determine the "gist" of each one and pull from them a suitable quote that will complete an incomplete essay about the abolition movement.
