For this problem based performance task, students practice being biologists as they use the scientific method to solve a problem. Other prominent concepts encountered are: interdependency among organisms within ecosystems, dependence of organisms on nonliving factors in an ecosystem, water, carbon, and nitrogen cycles,effects of human activity on ecosystems,environmental issues, and characteristics and needs of organisms.
