DNA Extraction - Fruit DNA Inquiry Lab
Students will learn about genetic modification of fruit through selective breeding/polyploidy and then hypothesis which fruit will have the most visible DNA after extraction. I provide my college prep students with bananas, strawberries and grapes and have them choose between the three after showing pictures of what the heritage fruit looks like whereas I let my honors biology do their own research and bring in the fruit of their choice.
