Criteria for Mathematical Thinking Posters
Presented at the start of every grade outlined in the Ontario Mathematics curriculum document is a set of seven expectations that describe the mathematical processes students need to learn and apply as they work to achieve the expectations outlined within the five strands. Students should be actively engaged in applying these processes throughout the program, rather than in connection with particular strands.

Four Fours - An Expression-writing Challenge
Four Fours is a game in which students race to use the four mathematical operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division), exponent, square root, factorial, and order of operations to create mathematical expressions for each of the whole numbers 1 through 100. The challenge is that they must use only the digit four and it must be used exactly four times in each expression.
