Logic - Algebraic 2-Column Proofs
I use this activity to bridge the gap between an algebraic proof to a geometric proof.
Generally, I model the steps to solving an Algebra 1 multi-step equation (i.e. 5x + 6 = 8x -12). Then I describe the properties of equality that allow me to progress through the problem to an answer. Then I rewrite the progression of the problem into a 2-column proof. Its an easy conversion.

I created these to teach my Life Skills students how to manage a checkbook. When I was searching online the options I found were either too immature or not customizable.
This is an excel file where you can easily add your student's names and create your own bank name. Included in the file is instructions for how to print and use these as designed.

I really enjoy this lesson.
The objective is to have the students understand that the definitions they have been studying for years have a logical form that can be identified. Specifically, the students need to be able to identify the form of a conditional statement, the form of its converse, any counterexamples the converse may have and what constitutes a definition.

This is so valuable in my classroom! At the beginning of the year, I have students graph their previous year's test results (CST's for CA). Then after each Benchmark test, they graph their results, using colors to show their levels.

You will receive a three-sheet excel document. One sheet is a set of coordinates that will create the REPUBLICAN ELEPHANT SYMBOL. The coordinates are arranged so that when you print, you will have two student copies on one sheet. The second sheet is a blank graph paper made in excel. Jennifer Fantano as created an activity that would need to be printed and cut into strips. Just pass a strip of paper to each student ( you may need to give each student more than one) and then pick any student to start. They ask just the question on their paper. The person with the answer to the first person's question reads their strip of paper, first the answer, then their question. This process goes on and on until the first person speaks again to answer the question asked by another student
