Romeo and Juliet Pre Reading - The Perfect Match
This is a pre-reading activity for William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet intended to get students thinking about the idea of relationships and the influence that their parents do -- or should-- have on them. 150 Amazing & Weird But True Facts - Daily Facts for Classrooms or Lunchboxes!
Let's face it... kids LOVE to learn about interesting facts and tidbits. Why not post these daily for them to read! You can write a new one of the board each day, place them around the classroom, or cut facts apart to place them in a daily lunchbox. Students would also enjoy having them in a literacy station!

Friendly Letter Rubric
I created this rubric for my grade 3 students. We went over success criteria at the beginning and are reminded to include all 5 parts of a friendly letter and must include 3 items/ideas in the body of the message. In the rubric you will also see for revisions that I use an acronym CUPS (capitals, understanding, punctuation and spelling). "Down in the dumps" because "it's raining cats and dogs!?" Why not spend some time practicing idioms indoors?
