Smartboard Attendance - Penguins
A fun winter way to take attendance each morning. The student just has to drag their penguin to the igloo. Any penguins that are still left are considered absent students. A great tool for classroom management. Just don't save it when they are done and you will be able to use it all winter long! Christmas Family Feud Smartboard Activity

"Winter Olympics Medal Count" SMART Board Activity
Bring the thrill of the Olympics to your classroom with the "Winter Olympics Medal Count" SMART Board Activity! Keep a running tab of the USA's medal count for the duration of the Winter Games!
Students help to keep track of gold, silver, and bronze medals earned by dragging the appropriate medals to the boxes. The number of medals is recorded and changed as needed. Each time a medal is earned, students click on the Sochi olive wreath to hear the crowd cheer!

This is a wonderful week before Winter Break writing activity. The lesson is in SMART Notebook format. The students develop an identity as a misfit toy stuck on Misfit Island. The task is to write a letter of application to Santa and persuade Santa to grant the misfit toy a ride on Santa's sleigh as a gift for a child. This activity includes a winter word search, prewriting activities, business letter formating tips, and a grading rubric.

Pin the Nose on the Snowman game
This is a fun Christmas/winter game that my kids just love! It is a SMART Notebook file that contains 2 different snowmen. One is just a face (easier version) and the other is a full snowman (harder version). The students underhand toss a beanbag, koosh ball, or whatever at the SMART board to see who can get the nose on the snowman closest to where it should be.
