Identifying Theme
This lesson plan is used to introduce and teach the strategy of identifying theme. This lesson includes a graphic organizer that helps to scaffold students' thinking as well as ideas for other mentor texts that can be used for other lessons. This plan can easily be adapted for use over 3-4 days.

First Person/Third Person point of view
A quick minilesson on first and third person followed by an activity. This lesson has passages in first and third person. Each set of passages is given to students and they identify which is first and which is third. I had students highlight the key words that told them what it was (I, me, my, they, he, she).
