This speech analysis discussion guide highlights the rhetorical devices used by King with margin annotations and correlating color coded lines underlined in the text. I use this key to show the students, "How did the author say it?" (a common core step when doing close and critical reading). Using this activity helps the students understand the speech better and helps them with evaluating what King was saying.

Vector Treasure Hunt! Drawing Vectors Activity for Physics or Precalculus!

Ahoy, matey! Your students will have a blast practicing drawing vectors on this Vector Treasure Hunt! Students must follow written directions to draw vectors onto a treasure map. If they draw their vectors correctly, the students will find the buried treasure! Students will need to use a protractor and a ruler to draw their vectors. When they are finished, they will draw a "shortcut" on the map. This will be the resultant vector and show the displacement of the ship. Students will also ge

This bundle contains all of the resources you would need for a full year long precalculus course. This is based on a typical precalculus curriculum. This Precalculus course is designed to be taught in a class that meets daily for an entire school year. There are 151 days allotted to cover the 16 units (notes + review + test) contained in the course. This should leave a couple weeks of extra time to flex in extra work days, midterms, finals, or other days as needed. Of course some units could

I like to call this activity Putt-Putt-Geometry. It is 9 glorious holes of trigonometry application! This works great as a Trig unit project, end of year project, or test review (maybe 1 or 2 holes for review). The students can work in groups, pairs, or individuals. If your students are not proficient with Trig, or you have not covered it yet, each hole can be done using the Pythagorean Theorem instead - simply tweak the directions a bit. I hope your students enjoy this as much as mine do!

I am currently teaching trigonometry in my IB class, and I find it crucial that students be able to apply their knowledge of how to write equations of sine functions (e.g. y = a*sin(b(x-c))+d) to real-world problems. I created problems based on windmills, AC household voltage, the motion of tides, and then I included a spiral review question requiring them to solve a trigonometric equation over a given domain. Note: the motion of tides is not strictly based on a single sinusoid, but the exerci

This is a game I use over several weeks in my trigonometry classes, to help students better recall the three trigonometric functions of all special angles on a unit circle in both degrees and radians.First, you’ll need to print off one half-sheet per student. Ask the students to stand in a circle (or at least a close enough approximation of a circle so that everybody can see everybody else at any given time). The teacher should also be part of the circle so that you, too, can see all of them a
