For the adventurous teacher who likes an active classroom and trying new things!Students will design, in 2D and again in 3D models, the ultimate playground design. They will conduct polls throughout the school to figure out what other students like the most in a playground and then graph their data. They will visit a playground to take measurements and, of course, play around. They will record their measurements, and draw the playground on graph paper.

Physical Properties Sorting and Data Collection Booklet - Differentiated Levels
A perfect addition to a unit on properties of matter/ properties of materials. Students classify objects by their observable physical properties, and then record data on the number of objects in the groups they create.

My Shadow Book: Groundhog
My Shadow Book is an easy to use booklet for students to record and measure the change in shadows during the day, using a picture of a groundhog. This book is printed with two pages of the booklet per sheet of paper, in black and white to save ink. It includes a cover page and two recording pages per book. This is a lab that I created because my students enjoyed slime and had expressed interest in making it at school. I used this as a way to launch into the scientific process and matter. We discussed the phases of matter as ingredients were measured and mixed together. This lab guides students through the whole process of a science lab.
