This is the accompanying teaching sequence for the unit “Teaching Claim Evidence Reasoning (CER): A Whodunit Mystery.” It includes a mystery to solve, all the evidence (which can be turned into manipulatives), rubrics for presentations and writing, teaching instructions, graphic organizers, and solutions. Literary Speed Dating with Ballads [CCSS.ELA.SL.1-2] (EDITABLE)
With Literary Speed Dating with Ballads, have students line up in 2 lines (like speed dating) with one side having 1 ballad each and 1 side having any number of the ballad elements based on size. Have students discuss whether the ballad from the partner across from them has the ballad elements they have. Give them a short amount of time to discuss and decide and then have 1 line move down 1 person and repeat as many times as needed (CCSS.ELA.SL.1)

Community Mascot Documentary - Creative Community Research
This Digital Storytelling Unit is designed to be completed over the course of three to four weeks. Students, working in teams of three to four, will explore core curricular content and be required to make an engaging and creative short video about that content.
