Preview of Surface Area

Surface Area

This activity guides the learner in finding the surface area of a 3-D object (cube). TLW classifies the 3-D object by labeling its edges, faces, and vertices. Then, given dimensions and a visual representation of the net of a cube, TLW calculate the area of each face and sum the total for the cube's surface area. I use this resource as an interactive math journal activity for my alternate middle school math class, but it can be used as differentiated notes, quiz, or for reinforcement or review.

I developed this Pythagorean Theorem Quick Reference Guide to appeal to the "Just don't get it" student. We all have them sitting in our classroom. They may not be able to remeber a, b, or c. After you share this word association with them, they will always remember Apple, Boy, and Chicken.
