Most Effective Strategy to Teach Answering Short Answer Questions
I again, do not say this lightly, in that I have not found a more effective method out there to teach students to answer short answer questions effectively. Ensure students pay closer attention to the question with this wonderful method. Easy to teach to any grade level as long as students can write complete sentences.

Video: Make a plan of attack for the ELA CAASPP by reading directions!
The directions on the ELA CAASPP Performance Task can be soooo long and repetitive that I find kids don't often read them, certainly not in their entirety! So this video is to make sure that our students know what the ELA performance task expects of them, and we formulate a plan of attack as we read the directions together. (We also take a look at the available tools as I model scanning the sources and questions before beginning to take notes.)There is a thinksheet to help students stay engaged
