I introduce six new words every Monday to start off a unit. We discuss prior knowledge and the students give examples of what we already know about each word. I put the key on the overhead projector and have the students write the words, definitions and draw a picture, and color.

In this "mini e lab" students get to take notes on the different magnifications of the lenses and then get to explore how to use the microscope.
