When I have a sub, or am doing something that day that requires me to pull students one at a time (such as individual testing or voicing), I have the rest of the class watch a musical with a listening packet. This is the first one I made, and it worked really well! It helps keep student engaged and focused on the movie, as opposed to talking to each other. I give them a grade for the packet once it is done, and I tell them they are not allowed to talk since this is an "individual assignment".
