This is a fun recipe for students to try during our herbs and spices unit. Students can make this recipe either sweet or savory. This is also a recipe that is uses an air fryer. It is a quick, one day lab!

Quickbread lab: muffins with variations
Muffins are a great lab for quickbreads to emphasize gentle mixing and compare it with muffins that may be overmixed. You could do the basic muffin batter and overmix it for a demonstration of overmixing vs. gentle mixing and look at the results in class before the lab. I love the variations for students to make them more unique. It's a small recipe so you could save money, but could be easily doubled and then make it a math exercise as well.

At Home Cooking Log
An at-home cooking log for students to keep track of items they are making at home where they are applying newly acquired skills. It requires a parent signature. Product photos and recipes are required to be attached or e-mailed in to the teacher.
