Christmas Carol Picture Riddles

Think about ChristmasLogically! Can you figure out what Christmas Carol these pictures are naming? You may have seen this before…we have had a page of this floating around our school forever…it had been Xeroxed so many times it was hard to see the pictures much less tell what carol they were depicting! I recreated them so you can have some logical fun during the holiday season. I take no credit for creating these brain teasers…only “recreating” them so they are easier for you to see. I wish

This is a game I designed based on some ideas from a workshop I attended on using Interactive Whiteboards. The idea is that you have two students, each armed with a flyswatter (all plastic!). When two notes are displayed, you give them a moment to determine what they are, then you call one out. First person to slap the correct note wins that match. You can either rotate both players or keep the winning player up until they are defeated. There is also a variation included in the instructions

50 Years of Hip Hop and You Don't Stop - (ELA, Music, History) Brain Break

Our young people can receive a brief idea of the rappers/M.C's, DJ's and more that gave us early hip hop when it was just a budding form of innovated music in the South Bronx and boroughs of NYC. Young scholars will enjoy the animation and can listen carefully so that they can be quizzed on it afterwards. Students can use the PDF as well to research the spoken word/hip hop lyrics to assist in answering the questions. This is a great opener for a discussion that can include music, ELA, history an

Cascade Method
This pack of a 100 boom cards helps reinforce the following major key signatures: C, D, E, F, G, A and B. Students won’t have to name the key signatures in this deck. However, they will have to drag the correct amount of sharps (or flats), in the right place, in order to “draw,” or recreate the key signature in question. There’s no better way to learn key signatures than having to actually “write out” the order of sharps and flats, so this is the closest way I’ve been able to create that for stu
