Gingerbread House Trigonometry is a great way to incorporate the holidays in math. This activity assesses students knowledge of Right Triangle Trigonometry, Pythagorean Theorem, and the Six Trigonometric Functions. Students will work in groups of 4 to complete a gingerbread house. Rollercoaster Project
The Rollercoaster project is interactive and hands-on to assess the student's knowledge of polynomials and slopes. Students work in groups of 3-4 and will complete the assignment in roughly a week. Teachers can alter the amount of time needed for completion. Student's have their own roles and room for creativity. This would work as a great quarter project for a review of turning points, end behaviors, and writing polynomial functions.

Roller Coaster Design - Transformations of Functions
I created this project for my IB Approaches and Analysis Course. This is also useful for Algebra 2 and Pre-Calculus courses. All three courses heavily use transformations of functions and can apply the parent functions to this course. This 13 page document with calendar and table of contents took me at least 12 days to complete from beginning to end, but it was worth it for the students to engage in meaningful conversations.

Asymptotes and Holes
This asymptote unit will be all you need! AFTER you have taught factoring and domain and range using a graph you are ready for this five to seven day unit. Students will start this unit by determining the domain of a function algebraically. Then they will use that knowledge to determine vertical asymptotes and PODs.
