This is a quick game to play during the holiday season that helps increase students' brainstorming skills. Played like Scattegories, divide the students into groups. Have each group number a piece of paper or dry erase board from 1 to 12. One person in each group should serve as the recorder. This activity can be used to review characters for any novel, play, etc. You could use it for individual work (create a character booklet) or in groups for a faster review of characters. I most recently used it midway through teaching Hamlet (prior to the deaths) as a group activity. Each group was given one character name and completed as a poster to be displayed in the room. As the characters died, students labelled with cause of death! It's a great activity for any tragic story!

This is a fun smartboard activity that the kids enjoyed doing. I have written a paragraph with five sentences. It contains a topic sentence, three detail sentences, and a concluding sentence. The student has to go to the board and click on the sentences and arrange them in order correctly. This helps with paragraph structure and chronological order. I used it while I was teaching paragraphs. I have four other different paragraphs for this same activity available.
