Simplifying Fractions

This resource breaks down simplifying fractions by firstly revising a key concept for learners which is factors and identifying the GCF. This skill is essential for them to understand how to simplify. It then progresses to showing learners how to simplify by listing factors and identifying GCF. Finally it condenses it into just simpliying. There is a short formative assessment activity differentiated across three levels. These have 8 questions each and learners can choose the level they wish to at

Complete Set 20 Algebra I Board Sessions,Review WITH solutions,ACT/SAT Prep

This set of Board Sessions consists of an entire year's worth of material from a typical Algebra I class. The order may be a bit different from the order in which the buyer/user is used to . . . but that's the beauty of having all twenty sessions . . . you can use the problems in any order and whenever your heart desires. The intent is to give a teacher problems for their students to do at the board. ( An early aside . . . Though this was NOT their original purpose, any of the twenty sessions

Substantial Prime Number Neat Numbers, order of operation, exponents, mental math

This prime set of Neat Numbers is intended to supplement work with learning essential number properties and operations at all levels in el-hi education . . . from First Grade to Calculus. Two of my major goals in teaching math have always been, first, to show how what we’re learning can be used and, second, to blend the “topic for the day” with other subjects whenever possible (integrate subjects and teach cross-curricularly, as it were). To that end, each of the 71/73 Neat Numbers is nea

This "two-volume" set of problems and puzzles should be all any school needs for their students to master those parts of arithmetic now needed in today's world . . . math or otherwise. The student will NOT have to do 568 x 47. That's for the calculator. The problems in this offering concentrate on those operations which should be done with no calculator. The problems herein work on mastering powers that should be known, and properties that are quite useful in computations. Major tests test

Addition and Subtraction of Integers without the Number Line - Party and War

Many teachers have been frustrated by their attempts to teach students additions and subtraction of integers by using the number line. There have been many elaborate attempts to make the number line more accessable by having students actually stand on a number line and walk up and down while adding or subtracting integers, but it never seems to transfer to pencil and paper work. Well here is a method that works and works well for all students. It is fun, exciting and students love it. The idea i

Target 24 v4

The computation game of Target 24 is an excellent game that generates 4 random numbers and you have to use all 4 numbers once and only once and multiply, divide, add, and/or subtract these number to make a math sentence that equals 24. If you get 24 correctly then you are awarded 3 points. Now since there are random numbers involved you may not be able to get exactly 24 so if you can get a 23 or 25 that is worth 2 points or if you can only get a 22 or 26 then you get 1 point.
