How to FIND Sources for a Research Paper or Project
Stop the struggle of how to find sources for a research paper! Your high school students will learn how to find credible sources for research using this 3 Step Simple Search Strategy. There’s little to no prep for this lesson that can be taught in 2 40-60 minute periods or broken up as mini-lessons throughout a week. Some slides are editable for you too!This resource focuses on the FIND step of my 3 step RESEARCH PROCESS. It can be used on its own or after the How to Choose a Topic activities.

Evaluating Information Mini Lesson (Presentation)
This presentation is focused on using Google for research, so it briefly covers how search engines work, how to evaluate sources, and then includes more specific resources for a Science research project, but those could be edited to align with any topic. This was created as a quick mini lesson presentation by a high school librarian for a group of 9th grade biology students beginning a research project using Google.

Using the Gale Library Database System
In this engaging handout, students are introduced to the Gale Library Database system. Students complete each activity on the handout as they research an artist and a writer or a topic that aligns with your class. Students learn how to navigate the Gale System as they save citations and explore different resources within the library database. My students love the feeling of accomplishment as they research like pros using this handout!This handout would make a great substitute activity too.
