Grade One Fountas and Pinnell Phonics Word Study Program Schedule
Hello teachers! I created a year-long schedule of phonics lessons from Fountas and Pinnell's Phonics/Word Study workbook. I used the month by month guide that is in the workbook and planned out lessons each week along with sight words to introduce or review each week. This is a very simple, user-friendly schedule to follow for your phonics lessons!

Elves and the Shoemaker Sequencing Vocabulary
Story cards tell the favorite fairy tale of "The Elves and the Shoemaker" and then students cut out the cards and sequence them with a partner (reading level G/H). Important vocabulary words are highlighted with pictures and a matching activity. Students complete a multi-modal worksheet on compound words.

This guided reading template worked for me to help my students better comprehend the stories that they were reading. I used it in 1st grade, but it could be adapted for use in at least K-2. This plan works for a 5 day week, which I know is not always possible. Once I get to know my students I am better able to gauge which days work to eliminate for them. Consonant Digraph -ck Word Sort
Students can cut out the words and the pictures. Then students work to decode each word and match it with its picture. This is great word work for language learners because it exposes them to new vocabulary words and promotes comprehension of the words they are decoding. One Two Three Syllable Words
Use this chart when students are reading a class novel or their personal reading book. Great way to check for understanding of syllables. Students need to write five words in each column. Then use a word from each column to write a complete sentence.

This version of I Have, Who Has? helps children identify onset and rhyme. Words focus on CVC words with the vowel i. Repeated words are colored to help children remember them. HMH Intro Reading Grade 1- Module 8 Week 1 High Frequency Boom Cards
Play Boom with your kids for reading rotations, morning work, etc. Player 1 grabs a card and reads it aloud. If they can correctly read the card they get to keep it. When a "Boom" card is drawn the player must return all of their cards!
