How to Make Mexican Paper Marigolds (Day of the Dead, Halloween, Cinco de Mayo)

In Mexico the marigold or cempasúchil is also called the flor de muertos ("flower of the dead") because people use it to decorate during the Day of the Dead celebrations on November 1 and 2. This festive flower is also used as a decoration on Cinco de Mayo and in other traditional celebrations. In this easy craft, students make festive marigolds out of tissue paper.

How to Make Papel Picado (Day of the Dead, Halloween, Cinco de Mayo)

In Mexico, cut tissue paper or papel picado is a traditional decoration for Cinco de Mayo, the Day of the Dead, national holidays, weddings, funerals, and many other celebrations. These festive, brightly colored sheaths of paper hang from banners strung along balconies, across streets and buildings, homes, and squares.
