Description

This product is what I use to teach the Introduction Speech to primary aged students. The speech topic, "You in a Box" is like show and tell on steroids. The lesson plan has students bring objects from their homes and put them into a box. On the day of their speech they reveal what's inside and explain how it relates to a certain time of their life (past, present, future). This project is fun for the students and is a great audience maker.

The focus of this lesson is on giving a public speech in front of the class. So it includes important learning material for the students on how to use effective verbal and non-verbal communication. For the teacher, it has everything you need to conduct a successful public speaking lesson at the elementary or middle school level (honestly, this works for young high school as well).

This lesson includes the following materials:

  • Carefully edited and engaging presentation with good animations and embedded discussion questions.

  • Detailed lesson plan with Common Core Frameworks - ready for you to print and place in your teacher binder.

  • You in a Box assignment instructions

  • Two unique rubrics, printable and clickable versions of the You in a Box outline.
