Hip Hip Hooray for Election Day is an Interactive Smartboard lesson developed to introduce students in the Primary grades to the steps in the voting process. The colorful graphics and smartboard action will keep the students actively involve in this Social Studies lesson. There are PDF ballots and voter badges that can be downloaded, free of charge, to use in your own classroom election.

This Notebook activity will help your students learn about our different elected officials, their jobs, branches and levels of the government, and the preamble of the constitution.
Students will sort the jobs to the levels and branches of government, match the words in the preamble to their meanings, and match the person to their job. ** You will have to edit this document to match the elected officials in your area (You will only have to type the name of 8 officials to make it fit.)

The first has students sort the responsibilities of the federal, state, and local government. The second involves students distinguish the federal, state, and local representatives for each of the three branches of government.

Election and Voting Themed SMART Board Attendance Activity w/ SOUND
It's election time! Students "cast their vote" by dragging their ballot to the ballot box. Students then click the box to hear a sound that lets them know their vote has been counted!
This attendance activity comes with both a numbered page (if you assign students numbers) and a page where you can change student names. Directions for changing names are included!

Just change the background, and the pictures and you have a Kindergarten voting tool for their favorite fruit or lunch menu. The linking between pages is all done, and is very easy to use.
