When I was a bilingual teacher I created this page for my students to add to their Reader's Notebook. It was helpful to identify those words that were written and sounded the same in Spanish and English. Learning about cognates helped the students understand what they were reading in their second language. It can be used all year. They were also careful in regards to false cognates. Before they added a new word to their list they would first look the word up in a dictionary (Spanish or English)
