Trig Function Murder Mystery - Unknown Sides/Angles, Unit Circle, Word Problems

A murder mystery that requires students to use their knowledge of basic trigonometric functions to find the killer! Students will be led through 5 puzzles to find clues leading to the killer. Puzzles require students to use knowledge of finding unknown sides and angles using sine, cosine and tangent, solving word problems, converting radians to degrees and unit circles. After solving the 5 clues, only one suspect will be left.Need to change a puzzle for your specific class! It's easy to chan

Trig Functions - Graphing Cheat Sheet*****UPDATED with different formula versions******Text books make graphing trig functions so complicated. I have simplified the process so that even below average students can follow the process easily and graph trig functions without frustration. I have passed these trig notes out to absent students and NO explanation was necessary! Trig graph paper also is included. The different versions use different formulas and variables.y = asin(bx−c)+d y = asi

Two page worksheet with answer key helps students discover where the numbers on the unit circle come from using the Pythagorean theorem and SOH CAH TOA. Includes guided instructions that may be used in class or for absent students. Students will fill in signs for quadrants, reference points (cosine, sine), radian measures and tangent values. Students will need colored pencils to color the circle.

This changes everything! Student work becomes more consistent. Your grading will be so much easier! Using the four aligned graphs makes translations of trig functions crystal clear. This file has 2 pages of coordinate planes for graphing trig functions. The first page contains four blank graphs per page. The axes are unlabeled so that students may select their own scale. The second page has five blank graphs per page and is set up for conducting transformations on the coordinate plane. Please see

I like to call this activity Putt-Putt-Geometry. It is 9 glorious holes of trigonometry application! This works great as a Trig unit project, end of year project, or test review (maybe 1 or 2 holes for review). The students can work in groups, pairs, or individuals. If your students are not proficient with Trig, or you have not covered it yet, each hole can be done using the Pythagorean Theorem instead - simply tweak the directions a bit. I hope your students enjoy this as much as mine do!

A great activity for around Christmas and the Holidays! This activity reviews students’ knowledge of the six trig functions (sine, cosine, tangent, cosecant, secant, cotangent) around the unit circle in radians, but also allows students to let loose their inner child with some coloring! I always encourage students to try to evaluate without having a unit circle in front of them or even without re-creating a unit circle, but by using reference angles and quadrants. There are 20 problems total.

Periodic Function Characteristics Scavenger Hunt - Midline, Period, and Amp.

This scavenger hunt requires students to use knowledge of midline, period, amplitude and y-intercepts to analyze different sine and cosine function graphs. Students start at any poster, answer the question, and find the answer on another poster around the room. If done correctly, they will end up back at the same poster. This is a great activity to have students self-check their knowledge. The functions use change in amplitude, periods and vertical translations. They do not include horizo

Students have fun and are engaged solving this right triangle trig puzzle. They solve for the lenghths of the sidesof each right triangle using the tangent ratio. Students are given the tangent ratio in lowest terms, they then find the lengths of the legs of each right triangle. After all triangle lengths are solved, they find the length and width of the rectangle. An extension is to find the hypotenuse, cosine, and sine of each triangle. These are NOT Pythagorean triples.
