The Principal's New Clothes - Reader's Theater for the Entire Class!

This reader's theater is for the entire class! You will need at least 11 students but more is always better. This ties into my other twisted fairy tales except that it was written to do as a class. I split my class into two groups and both groups practice. When we perform we discuss what things we liked about each group. I use this to introduce the small group reader's theaters I have them do the rest of the year. I have also come back to the script at the end of the year to perform in front of

In the script, three of four friends answer an altar call one Sunday. This story is what happens to them after that experience. Cammy did not answer it, Hilton tries for a brief time to do better, Will works to do better but gives up, and Nelson works hard and prays daily to keep working and following what he believes

Elijah tells them that it is a little like poker when you put everything on the line for what you believe. Elijah goes on to say that the three signs you are living a Christian life a

This is a religious reader's theater intended for a small group of 4 students. In the script, Students are discussing the upcoming National Day of Prayer. Samuel thinks that it is a day when you can say ALL your prayers for the entire year but the others explain to him why that wouldn’t be a good idea. They also explain that the National Day of Prayer is a day for praying for our country. All of them make a plan to take part in the National Day of Prayer as well. It would make a great skit per

We All Need Faith, Fellowship, and Prayer Small Group Reader's Theater

This is a religious reader's theater intended for a small group of 3 students. It is about how even little things can weigh us down. It helps to have faith and fellowship with other believers. It also helps to ask others to pray for you. These are the things discussed in this reader's theater. It would make a great skit performed before a sermon or before a discussion in class. I use reader's theaters to encourage my students to practice fluency. It is a fun way to do something that they need.

Reading Page Logs

I teach 6th-12th grade reading interventions, and my students are so over reading logs for minutes or for the number of books they've read. Often, these students are still struggling with basic reading skills, or they have never been allowed to try books and have their efforts COUNT for something. Instead, we have chosen to count pages read as their class achievement this year. My students elected to use a bookmark to track their progress. These bookmarks are best printed on cardstock paper
