I wrote this rhyme to help second and third-graders memorize their doubles facts. While they often could double 1-5 with ease, they tended to get mixed up with the products of 6, 7, 8 and 9 when multiplied by two. After "singing" this enough times, I could hear my students whispering the lines to themselves when doing computations! Eventually, as with anything that we memorize, they needed to refer to the rhyme less and less, and eventually it was committed to memory. I recommend writing it out

I am probably most proud of this song that I have created. It provides clear instructions in Spanish in order to solve a double-digit addition problem. As a Dual Language teacher, I find that Spanish resources can be limited, so I wrote this song. The first few times we sing it, I visually tie the steps with an actual addition problem.
